CHAIRS OF SET

Spring 2023 – Spring 2024: Undergraduate Research Fellowship

Chairs Of Set is a 106-page magazine that came to fruition over a study that I completed being an Undergraduate Research Fellow at Auburn University. My study was on “Analyzing and Interpreting the Importance of Set Design Choices in Modern Cinema”, which I did primarily through the evidence of the platform Rotten Tomatoes. I did this to show how a movie’s set design is a direct correlation to the score that the audience gives each movie (and not the critics, as they have specific criteria they have to follow) and how having a good or bad set has a direct effect on the score. The research symposium board is attached below, and that’s the final board that was submitted to present with. However, the magazine was an additional yield and an extra component to support my original claim. Entirely by myself, I created an entire magazine solely on famous chairs in design history and what sets they’re used in, since chairs can be one of the most notable pieces of furniture in a home. I have great interest in taking this magazine further, maybe making a second edition, and seeing how far I can push it. A link to download the full magazine is also located below.

Above were a few photoshopped images I produced to get an idea of the physical edition before it was created. Below is the final printed version.
