CONCEPT: Rooted in the raw, dynamic energy of Midtown Manhattan, this hotel renovation embodies a transformative journey—where the grit of urban life meets the glamour of polished refinement. Inspired by the garnet, a gem forged deep within the earth, the spaces celebrate the beauty of evolution. Through custom reflective check-in pods that change appearance as you walk by, geometric flooring and elevator door design, and mirrored ceilings in guest rooms that reflect the velvet upholstery and textured wall coverings throughout the hotel, uncut edges give way to faceted brilliance, creating an atmosphere that is both grounded and radiant. Guests are immersed in a multi-dimensional experience, reflecting the duality of the city itself—authentic yet aspirational, raw yet luxurious, a true reflection of transformation.

CUSTOM BARSTOOL, “The Gilded Throne”

This was an extra element for the project done on my part, where I was to create a versatile barstool that met certain requirements, which is all elaborated in the “Graduate Assignment” pdf linked above. I ended up 3D printing this as well, which you can see below in a material tray I laid out for this project.

Chrysler Building
Empire State Building

I even got the opportunity to go see the hotel for myself in person, which was an amazing experience.
