Spring 2023: Residential Studio – Won a Merit Award for Salute Student Design Competition, and was 1 of 4 students selected for Public Display
The design for this beach home is to create a space where both the family and tenants feel comfortable yet allured. Thus allowing them to make life long memories in a setting that they can securely indulge in. Natural elements incorporated into the floors and attractive colors allow both the natural and exuberant to align in one home, evoking a sense of the house being united and all encompassing for all those who enter. The home having a personality is a vital aspect to a home, especially when there could be a large number of individuals staying in this place at one time. The design is centered around this need and will include plenty of seating, with a large sectional that’s easily moveable to the home’s needs.
A dining table that’s extendable, and a breakfast nook that allows for plenty of welcoming seating around the island and bench. With this comes a lot of flexibility as well, allowing for the Sims and future tenants to customize and make the home theirs, catering towards each individual’s needs. Due to this home being a rental property, it’s crucial that lockable areas are incorporated so the Sims don’t have to worry about any valuables they leave behind. An area in the pantry as well as the closet in the primary bathroom exemplify an area that’s secured for the Sims to safely store whatever they need. Also, throughout the entire home it’s important that the natural lighting and views aren’t compromised, really allowing those currently staying in the home to be immersed and be present throughout the duration of their stay. The breakfast nook faces towards all of the large windows, as well as all seating at the dining table and the sectional couch to get constant breaths of fresh air. The design is striking and subconsciously implanting the thought of staying here again for the renters.
