Fall 2023: Commercial Studio

In the beginning of the semester, we get paired with a group (2 or 3 others) from our class based on personality, and from then on this is who you work with for the entire project. This is to stimulate collaboration and the ability to work in a team when we transition into our careers after college. We blindly pick from a hat for our company, a location in the U.S. and a location in a different country, and we get to choose which location we want to work with. We got Ecolab, and chose this new building to be in Turku, Finland. This is a medium scale project (18,000-25,000SF), and there were three of us that built, composed, and designed an entire four story building. Additionally, we rebranded Ecolab’s logo and color scheme, to match their international Scandinavian branch extension. Here were a few of the minimum requirements: – 75% of the furniture throughout shall be from the HNI umbrella of brands – All workstations shall be Allsteel – All private offices shall be Gunlocke or Allsteel casegoods – Consider technology, security, sustainability, wellness, codes, etc.
